"It's empty, hopeless, useless. They're here, and they're taking over this world." -Dante
"Attention humans! Do NOT let the zombies lick you, just make sure to balance their cousins' checkbooks when they commit suicide!" -Wall Street Psycho
"Humans! Do not panic. Fight! Defend your land from my race!" -Tre Du'un/Spenshah/Spencer
It has three names. Varhiin. Sadists' Virus. The Infection. It plagues all of humanity and many other lifeforms on Earth. Who are the defenders of this planet?
Spenshah, or Tre Du'un, was the Chosen of Dee Su'um, supposed god of the Trenestrians. He is the savior of the human and Trenestrian race, given that he can choose the right team to oppose the virus that ravages the inhabitants of Earth to become the dominant race.
How does this horrible plague work?
Varhiin is a virus that causes an infection, not just an infection. It works by entering a bloodstream of a living creature, and using stealth to overcome the DNA, blood cells, and other defenses and functions of the bloodstream and veins. Let's take a deep look into this virus' mechanics.
Each Trenestrian has hundreds of the virus that causes the infection stored in a special hormone that stems off their brain. They make sure that the host Trenestrian's bloodstream stays running and clean. This is because of the creature's special disorder: Much of a Trenestrian's blood will freeze in temperatures below about 11 degrees Farenheit or 22 degrees Celsius. This causes the virus to act quickly. The creature starts going insane without the flow of blood to its heart but still to its brain, due to the lack of oxygen, action, and thought regulation. Without the virus, the creature would go insane in a matter of hours; The virus warms the bloodstream, keeping the Trenestrian sane for up to a week and giving it a chance to find a warmer area to thaw its entire bloodstream.
The Trenestrian can and will attempt to save itself. If it does not, the virus recognizes a change in the creature's DNA as it dies temporarily. The Trenestrian will come back to life, so to speak, in four to eight hours. The virus attempts to protect the "new" host; The infected Trenestrian. Upon assault against a new target, the infected Trenestrian will attempt to bite and claw at its enemies as primary means of combat. Recognizing this, the virus then reproduces itself and enters the fingers and root canals of an "undead" Trenestrian. That way, when an enemy is bitten or clawed, the virus can enter the wound and find its way into the enemy lifeform's bloodstream.
The virus relies on stealth to infiltrate an opponent's bloodstream and attack its DNA and blood cells to weaken it. It is not a "strong" virus, and any virus or DNA stands clashing against another in one creature's bloodstream may accidentally destroy the Varhiin virus. This is why some cross-bred or sick creatures may be observed as "immune" to the virus. The IUSOM, or Inner United States Operative/Operating Military, fails to notice this, but certain knowledgeable individuals have taken note of the unusual fact.
When the virus finds an important bloodstream, artery, or organ with little to no blood cells, it reproduces. It creates another virus. And they create two more. They create four more. Eight more. Sixteen. Thirty-two. Eventually, there is enough of the virus to take over the organs and bloodstreams. It destroys blood cells rapidly and disables organs by cutting off the blood flow to each. It keeps the brain alive with a steady supply of blood that gradually reduces until the new host no longer requires a steady supply of it, but rather an occasional dose. The virus army then stores remaining blood supplies in isolated organs, still keeping them out of commission.
Due to the lack of blood flow and immune system support, an infection forms on the epidermis around out-of-commission bloodstreams and organs. It appears to spread slowly, but it is just mimicing the movement that the Varhiin virus makes through a creature's bloodstream.
The lack of proper blood flow also causes a lack of intelligence, even thought the brain is still in commission. For this reason, most Infected can only utter a series of grunts, but some Trenestrian Infected have been witnessed speaking the Trenestrian language, Suumian.
The virus does this to make more of its former host so that it will not have to fight. The thing is, the insanity caused by the infection usually causes the victim to consider everyone not carrying a hostile form of the virus to be an enemy. Thus creates the idea that the Infected strive to create more of themselves.
The virus is always part of the original Trenestrian that hosted it. Like the idea that twins can feel each other's pain, when a infecting Trenestrian, or Matriarch, is killed, the virus dies in a similar way, and so does the host it has.
So, why can only those original Trenestrians infect? The virus has been living inside that Trenestrian's body a long time. It knows the layout of the creature's body, and thus can enter the root canals of the teeth and the finger area to assist in creation of new Infected.
How are the Infected chosen to be that type? It depends on what you did before you became Infected. Some cross-Infected can be created. Let's have a look at the tables.
"They're the only bitchsons that can do it, but they're.... there's so many of them. And they work so fast. We can't win." -The Surgeon, IUSOM interview
MATRIARCH-Of course, the Trenestrians whose veins have been frozen. I've already explained this to you. Hairy, scaly, and muscular eight foot beasts. Only undead that can infect. Trenestrian only.
Trenestrian's blood frozen: 100% chance.
Trenestrian bitten or clawed: Less than 1%, depending on Infection rate.
RAMBLER-Slowest of the basic Infected. They're stronger than the other basic Infected, but much slower, of course. Occurs in the human, Trenestrian, primate, and canine races.
Human bitten: Less than 35% chance, depending on Infection rate and former strength and speed.
Human clawed: Less than 10% chance, depending on former strength.
Trenestrian bitten or clawed: Less than 10%, depending on Infection rate, depending on endurance.
Primate bitten or clawed: More than 70% chance.
Canine bitten: Less than 11% chance.
STORMER-Fastest of the basic Infected. Weak, but rapid. Highly loud and noticeable. Occurs in the human, canine, and feline races. Does not occur from scratches.
Human bitten: Less than 10% chance, plus wound round-up and cardiovascular strength.
Canine bitten: 50% or more chance.
Feline bitten: Unknown chance. Has been observed, however.
SHADOW-WALKER-Stealthy, quiet Infected that are prone to sneak attacks. Medium strength and a usually sluggish speed, unless threatened extremely. Occurs in human and Trenestrian races.
Human bitten or clawed: Less than 20% chance depending on endurance, intelligence and Infection rate.
Trenestrian clawed: Less than 3%, depending on infection rate.
Trenestrian bitten: Less than 1% observed.
"Named by a drunken German." -Will on Korpsekriegs
KORPSEKRIEG-Senseless violence at its best, Korpsekriegs on the East Coast have huge arms caused by and influx of DNA and blood in a certain area put there by the Virus. Extremely strong, somewhat slow, can charge periodically with a small rush of adrenaline. Occurs in human and Trenestrian races.
Different versions of these have been observed on the west coast of North and South America, but these are different beings.
Human bitten or clawed (East Coast version): Less than 8% chance total, depending on strength, Infection rate, and the virus itself moving blood and DNA to the right places.
Human bitten or clawed (West Coast version): Less than 15%, depending on area of the wound the Infection got in through and the host's former strength.
BLEEDER-Extremely weak and slow. Bleeds corrosive chemical-like blood that is up to 600 degrees Farenheit. Occurs uniquely, via Matriarch blood seeping into a wound. Occurs in humans and, very rarely, Trenestrians.
Human bloodstream connected with Matriarch blood: Less than 75% chance, depending on severity of wound, amount of blood contacting human's bloodstream, and Infection rate.
Trenestrian bloodstream connected with Matriarch blood: No accurate percentage. This rarely occurs correctly, as the blood of a Trenestrian must be warm as a human's while connecting with a Matriarch's cold blood.
FIREDEAD-Likely the most dangerous of the Uncommon Infected. Infected alcoholics, or people who have recently drank alcohol at the time of infection. The cold-accustomed virus reacts specially with the flammable liquid in the stomach organ, causing the body to heat up, and eventually creates a small flame in the stomach. For this reason, they tend to die over a period of days or weeks, by eventually combusting. Can occur in any race, but especially common in human.
Based specially on the intake of alcohol. Humans often become Firedead and, very rarely, Trenestrians do.
REDMPTOR-Rarest infected that fits in the "Uncommon" category. Swift and forceful, but lacks in agility. Often subject to sudden strokes and seizures. Special mutation causes influx of intelligence. Occurs in human race only.
Human bitten: Less than 6% chance, depending on former medical conditions, Infection chance, and bodily condition. Fit muscles=higher chance of become a Redemptor.
Human clawed: Around 7% chance, not wavering or changing at all.
WRAITH/SPECTER-Infected Trenestrian sub-race, known to the Trenestrians as Reguen, which is extremely rare. Chameleon-like camouflage, ghostly, ear-splitting wails, and heavy hands. occurs in, of course, the snakelike Reguen.
Reguen-Trenestrian bitten: 90% or more chance, depending on Infection rate.
"I remember your name." -Ezekial
SUPRESSED-Undead humans and Trenestrians with large blood deposits near their eardrums. They are highly sensitive to noise, and if they hear something exceedingly loud, such as a gunshot from up to 30 yards away, their eardrums will burst, and they'll start taking out whatever pain they have on others around them. Gain strength with pain. Usually peaceful until disturbed. Grim figures.
Based solely on the location of large blood deposits in the Infected. Oddly, only occurs in Trenestrians and humans only.
MUTATED, HUMAN-CREATED, AND UNIQUE INFECTED
ARCHINFECTED-Spawns of B-21, Emile's virus. Has the appearance of a Matriarch, with claws and extreme speed. Extremely rare, as there are five of them created by the IUSOM and cannot infect others.
"No one man... should... can... have all that... that power." -Morhdekai
SAVAGE-Created with Morhdekai's virus, these extremely strong creatures make more of themselves by infecting. What they do not bite or slice becomes flat because of their extreme strength. Trenestrian Matriarchs, with sub-divisions. Matriarch Savage's viruses extremely stealthy in the bloodstream and sturdier than basic Varhiin virus. Savage Korpsekriegs are highly dangerous and can lift military mortar AAVs.
Human bitten by Matriarch Savage: 80-95%, depending on Infection rate, plus the corresponding chances of becoming another type of Infected (Korpsekrieg, Firdead, Rambler, etc.).
Human clawed by Matriarch Savage: 75-95%, depending on Infection rate, plus the corresponding chances of becoming another type of Infected (Korpsekrieg, Firdead, Rambler, etc
Trenestrian bitten or clawed: 55-77%, depending on Infection rate, plus the corresponding chances of becoming another type of Infected.
REMUS-Special Matriarch, carrying a faulty strain of Varhiin. Red-scaled and hairless, this Matriarch is a friend of Romulus who, of course, thinks that Remus is his actual brother. Romulus can speak in small to medium sized sentences, and is a rather playful fellow, but isn't afraid to defend Romulus or any of his friends. Wears a tightly fitting tuxedo, ripped and scratched because of his size and muscular mutation. Sharp, crooked and long golden teeth that he can use to rip apart enemies, and infect people not willing to obey his or his friends commands.
COLLARED/CAPTURED/IUSOM INFECTED-Infected of any kind that have mind-altering headsets attached surgically to their craniums. It connects to their brains and sends altered thoughts through. It requires a vial of blood on the back of their necks, and some versions of the headsets include rebreathers that cover the Infected's mouth, such as Korpsekreigs and Matriarchs.
BIGFOOT/SASQUATCH, YETI, YOWIE-These hairy beasts were infected the whole time. All are violent beasts that isolate themselves from humans.
